How Do You Handle – Rejection, Hurt, & Being Looked Down Upon?

Got a question for you, how do you handle rejection?

Just ask yourself, how did Jesus feel when he was being rejected by the very ones He grew up with, his brothers…

(John 7:5)For even his brothers didn’t believe in him. Yep..even his own family rejected him as the Messiah……

We have to remember that He was God in the flesh and He Jesus was a son, a brother, and possibly even an uncle, and you don’t think He had feelings from his living relationships that tore him up when love wasn’t returned, when He wasn’t wanted, not accepted? (Hebrews 4:15)

(Hebrews 4:15)This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same tests we do, yet he did not sin.

Jesus knew this kind of hurt……

Jesus even felt the rejection of his so called friends, they took offense at him”

(Matthew 13:55‭-‬58)
Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?” And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.” And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.

Jesus knew what it was like to lose the love of those he once was in relationship with……

Jesus humanness still felt the hurt of the rejection, do you think Jesus was not “troubled in His spirit” when He was betrayed by Judas?

(John 13:21)Now Jesus was deeply troubled, and he exclaimed, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me!”

Or, when He was denied by Peter?

(Matthew 26:69‭-‬75)

Meanwhile, Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came over and said to him, “You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean.” But Peter denied it in front of everyone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said. Later, out by the gate, another servant girl noticed him and said to those standing around, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth. ” Again Peter denied it, this time with an oath. “I don’t even know the man,” he said. A little later some of the other bystanders came over to Peter and said, “You must be one of them; we can tell by your Galilean accent.” Peter swore, “A curse on me if I’m lying—I don’t know the man!” And immediately the rooster crowed. Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he went away, weeping bitterly.

Do you think he wasn’t moved by the way they treated Him? Of course He was, but He was also all knowing…He knew it was going to go down like that.

Oh, and let’s not forget about the biggest rejection Jesus felt and that was when He was on that cross for our sins, and had to be separated from His Father until the 3rd day of His resurrection……..Now that had to be quite hard…..Just the knowledge that He would soon be separated from and abandoned by His Father. As He hung on the cross dying, Jesus cried out in,

(Matthew 27:46)

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

What do you think it did to Him being separated from His Father, the One who He was in daily communion with from before time began, who was instantly forced to withdraw that love and turn His back on Him because of our sin that covered His beloved Son as He died. I can imagine that in that time on the cross Jesus needed and yearned for His Father’s love more than anything in that moment?

How would it make you feel being rejected by the one(s) God sent you to help for whatever reason?

So ask yourself is it you being rejected or is it God being rejected? Truth of the matter is this…..God is the One being rejected. He used you to deliver and it wasn’t received.
Rejection is rejection regardless of the situation and is not a pleasant feeling at all…..so why do people reject God’s answer to their prayers?

people pray and ask God to send them help, and when He does in a human form and not the way they think it should come, they reject it”……

Come on now, that is for somebody reading this today. Don’t throw back in God’s face the very thing you asked Him for, just because of the way He sent it.
You are not God (He is) and He knows how to answer your prayer even when you don’t know how to ask correctly…… that is called His love for you.
So many times we pray for what we think we need and that’s not what we need at all.
Thank God for His Holy Spirit because He is the one making intercession for us in just the way we need it spoken and we must be willing to accept God’s answer no matter how He sends it…Amen!!

(Romans 8:26‭-‬27 )

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Be Blessed……
